Anything Goes (Beaumont Theatre Version)
Tuesday 17 - Saturday 21 May 2005 at the New Theatre, Oxford
The transatlantic luxury liner, S.S. American, sets sail for England in the 1930s carrying a wildly incongruous assortment of passengers and crew.
Recently produced by the National Theatre in the West End, Anything Goes develops with unforgettable Cole Porter songs: I get a Kick Out of You, You're The Top, It's De-lovely, Blow Gabriel Blow, and, of course, the title song Anything Goes.
With enough one-liners and spectacular numbers to sink a ship, it is impossible not to be carried away by the charismatic characters, proving beyond doubt that, indeed, Anything Goes. It may not be de-likely, but it sure is de-lovely!
